BIO

Oakland born PATRICK RAFANAN has been photographing fashion and making portraits in the studio and on the street since the turn of the millennium. He studied hand-drawn animation at California College of the Arts SF and migrated to New York in 2014 to join the MPS fashion photography graduate program at the School of Visual Arts. He sharpened his skills as an editor on-site during NYFW events for BFA.com and developed photography guidelines for ecommerce brands. His work pits themes of innocence against obscurity, frequently drawing inspiration from ancient cults, 80s sci-fi horror and robot anime. Patrick Rafanan is fatally allergic to peanuts, and has made it a personal crusade to raise awareness about the perils of laboratory derived artificial sweeteners such as corn syrup & agave syrup.
